UPAW Bikeability - Years 5 & 6 -
Pupils in Year 5 and 6 were cycling around the local area this week with the team from ‘Bikeabilty’. Pupils were shown how to care for their bike and perform hand signals for cars. All the pupils were complemented on their ability to listen and they were then taken onto the local roads to learn how to ride safely in traffic and negotiate junctions.
A UPAW staff member said: “Being able to ride a bike is one thing … staying safe whilst riding on busy roads is something quite different. The pupils have learned a lot over the last two days.”
The cycle experience staff said “They had never worked with such a lovely group of children.”
A pupil commented: "I enjoyed cycling on the roads and I have gained much more confidence now."
