UAW GCSE Results 2017 - 29/08/2017

GCSE students at University Academy Warrington (UAW) have plenty to celebrate across the board. We are delighted to report an increase in the percentage of students achieving the equivalent of a grade C or above in Mathematics and the percentage of students obtaining a grade C or above in English still remains strong. Alongside this, results in other subjects show a continued improvement compared to their performance at A*-C last year. The number of students obtaining a grade A* and A (or equivalent) has also increased. Among the many individual successes are: • Holly Cain, who achieved one grade 9, one grade A*, one grade 8, three grade As and three grade Bs. Using the new criteria Holly also obtained a grade 9 (equivalent to an A**) in her English which means she has performed in line with the top 2% of students in the country. • Bryn Mitchell, who achieved one grade A*, one grade 8 and a further three subjects at grade A. • Abigail Jones, who achieved one grade A* and a further four subjects at grade A. • Kirsty Wareing, who achieved one grade A* and a further three subjects at grade A. Principal, Mrs Misia Barclay, said: “This is an exceptional set of results and our students should be very proud of their achievements. I am delighted that they have risen to the national changes in exams and we have a number of students who obtained a grade 9 or 8 which is equivalent to an A** or an A*. Our continued success is down to the partnership between the students, their teachers, support staff and parents/carers – a big ‘thank you’ to all involved. All staff, teaching and support, wish all our students continued success as they embark on the next stage in their education or training.”
