Warrington Foodbank is UAW's Christmas charity -
Students, staff, members of the recreation centre, and parents at University Academy Warrington have spent this half term gathering up items to donate to their local Foodbank.
Mrs Misia Barclay, the school’s Principal, launched the appeal for food items at the beginning of this half term. Since then hundreds of items have been donated – from a wide variety of grocery items, through to toiletries. All of these will now be taken to the Warrington Foodbank where the Academy hopes they will go some way towards helping families in need to have a comfortable Christmas period.
Sarah, a student at the Academy, said: “We have worked hard together in our form groups to spread the word and collect as many items as we could. I’m pleased that we can do something to help other families have a Merry Christmas.”
Misia Barclay, Principal at University Academy Warrington, said: “As an Academy we wanted to do something to help those in the local community have a lovely Christmas. I am absolutely blown away by the generosity of students, staff and parents. Thank you to everyone who donated items. We hope that everything we have collected will help to make a positive difference to local families at Christmas.”
