UCEA hosts seminar to support students and their families with GCSE examinations -
On Thursday 30th November, students and their families attended a seminar at University Church of England Academy to explore various revision strategies and effective ways to remember key information in preparation for GCSE examinations. Each family also discussed how to resolve the stresses which they may encounter during the examination periods and when academic expectations are raised.
The examination season is fast approaching and ensuring students are fully supported both in school and at home is key to their success. The seminar was organised to encourage open discussion between students and academy staff to find the most effective ways to prepare for examinations and how to support each other when stress and anxiety does occur.
Mrs Westwater said “The students had an extremely mature approach to the seminar. There was a real buzz at the close of the evening and families really understood how to support their children through independent study and exam revision.”
Katie Moore, student at UCEA, said “The session gave me lots of useful tips on how to revise several subjects and use lots of different strategies. We were shown how structuring revision time in small chunks and varying content allowed for better outcomes and time to switch off without feeling guilty or anxious.”
