Cogent Skills provide career advice for UAW students -
Cogent Skills, a strategic body for developing skills in the science industries, have been working closely with Year 10 students from University Academy Warrington. The team from Cogent Skills, based in Warrington, have been delivering a series of workshops to the students, exploring career opportunities linked to science and engineering while further developing employability skills.
The visit was intended to bring to life the limitless career opportunities within the science industry and broaden pupil’s outlook of possible routes to follow after leaving school, such as University, apprenticeships and training. The workshops also helped pupils recognise the specific skillsets and qualifications employers would look for in prospective employees within different sectors of industry.
Mrs Leigh, Head of Science at UAW, said: “Our students had a great time working on the various team building activities which they found challenging yet rewarding.”
Maddison, a Year 10 student, said: “Cogent Skills gave us lots of information about how to follow a career in science and engineering and the activities were really fun!”
