Kidsgrove pupils explore music from different cultures at African Drumming Workshop - 13/03/2018

This term, pupils from Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 at University Primary Academy Kidsgrove (UPAK) took part in an African Drumming Workshop, as part of their learning topic ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’. The workshop allowed children to experience music from different cultures and allowed pupils to explore their individual musical abilities, as well as working together in a team. Mrs Long, Teacher at UPAK said: “The children had an exciting time at it was a brilliant opportunity for them to experience music from different cultures. In fact, the children loved it but so did the staff! You couldn’t help but get drawn into the beats and rhythms as the whole school was echoing with incredible sounds.” Ashley, Year 2 pupil said: “The drumming was great! I like practising and then performing for my parents at the end of the day!” Logan, Year 2 pupil added: “It was really fun because I hadn’t played a drum before and I now I can.”
